Hearty Lives Bolsover

Hearty Lives Bolsover is a project funded for two years by the British Heart Foundation. The overall objective is to reduce inequalities and improve morbidity from cardiovascular disease (CVD) through primary and secondary prevention for people with mental health problems living in Bolsover District.

Research has shown that people with mental health problems have a two to four times higher risk of heart disease but may be less likely to engage with services aimed at reducing this. The project will facilitate people with mental health problems aged 40 - 74 years in attending their GP practice for routine appointments related to CVD and its prevention.

Further objectives include providing training in CVD for mental health professionals and in mental health awareness for primary care staff and reviewing current pathways of communication.
