The Case For AAASP
A business case for an abdominal aortic aneurysm screening programme (AAASP) for Derbyshire was submitted to the NHSAAASP at the end of July 2011. The business case was approved with a commencement date of the 1 April 2012. The AAASP is a national screening programme which involves an ultrasound scan of the abdominal aorta in men aged 65. It will be a phased rollout, starting off with screening centres at Derby and Chesterfield and then gradually moving into community health centres.
