Community Health Services Derby
As of 1st April, a number of NHS Derby City’s community health services transferred to other organisations. As part of the Department of Health’s ‘Transforming Community Services’ programme, the Provider Services arm of NHS Derby City was taken on by health organisations around the county.
For patients and the public, this will mean that they still access the services in the usual way. However, the aim is that patients will get better services with more positive outcomes. The staff will also have more opportunities for professional development and to work alongside colleagues to ensure that patients get the right care in the right place and at the right time.

The occupational therapists cover a variety of specialities. These include therapeutic treatments, housing and adaptations and sensory integration.
The team assesses and works with a person in their own home, school or short break service, offering advice and providing guidelines and programmes to encourage development and help overcome difficulties or home adaptations, enabling people to participate as fully as possible in their daily activities and to achieve their maximum potential.
Some of the occupational therapists based at the Light House can also give advice on sensory functioning, perceptual, cognitive and social development and provide help and training in everyday tasks, such as eating, dressing, bathing or personal hygiene.
