Falls Prevention Calendar Competition

Children aged 5 to 12 years have the chance to show off their artistic skills and win one of 12 WHSmith vouchers, courtesy of NHS Derby City’s Falls Prevention Team. The integrated Falls Prevention Team are creating a 2010 calendar to give to older people who are at risk of falls. Each month will display a different picture of a different theme to do with falling, drawn by the winners. The themes vary from hearing and healthy eating (for the 5-6 year age group) to alcohol and medication (for the 11-12 year age group). Wendy Roethenbaugh, from the Falls Team, said: “Many older people are unaware of the different factors that contribute to falls and a calendar is an ideal way of highlighting these throughout the year” Entries must be in by 23rd November and sent to the Falls Prevention Team, Coleman Health Centre, Coleman St, Derby, DE24 8NH.
