NHS 111 - a new telephone service to make it easier to access local health services urgently – is now available across the north of the county. NHS 111 will replace the existing NHS Direct number and sit alongside the established 999 emergency ambulance number.

111 is the telephone number to use when it's less urgent than 999.

Watch Our Video About NHS 111

When patients call 111 they will be assessed, given advice and directed straightaway to the local service that can help them best – that could be an out-of-hours doctor, walk-in centre, community nurse, emergency dentist or late opening chemist. NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and calls from landlines and mobile phones are free. It will be available in Derby from the end of March and the rest of the county at the end of August. TalkType users can also access NHS111 on 1800111
